Help! I just found this in the nesting box. What is it?

I agree with Sourland, this looks like a "lash egg". Many times lash eggs are caused from infections in the Oviduct and the body attempts to rid the tissue and pus and hence you have this lash egg. Sometimes they can contain egg white, yolk or just tissue and pus like gunk.
It is more common in older hens that are beginning to come to an end of their laying cycle, although it can happen at any age.
There isn't much you can do about these. If the hen starts to release a lot of these, you can offer up antibiotics, but it won't cure her other than making her feel better should she be sick at the time.
I would offer her up some probiotics to help boost her immune system to help fight off disease and infections.
