Claudia was my one year old SLW pullet, and I found her lying dead under the coop today.
I'm at a complete loss as to why she died. She seemed fine earlier this morning. The way I dote on my flock, I would have noticed if any of them were in distress.
She was robust and healthy earlier. When I found her, she was lying on her side with her legs straight out. One eye was completely shut, and the other, partially open. There was yellowish stuff clogging her nostrils. A bit of this gunk was on her breast feathers. No other signs of injury or illness. Her feathers were in perfect condition.
None of my remaining six hens show any sign of illness.
Does anyone have any idea what it is that could have killed her?
