I posted this as a reply on another SLW topic and it didn't bump it, so I'm trying again....

This guy (I'm afraid) is about 12 weeks old.

Roo or pullet? [IMG] The SLW not the sex-link lol

edit...well shucks. I looks like it did bump it. *still looking for the magic "delete post" button*

Could very well become a rooster, keep watching though. I think I see hackles coming in. Have you looked at 'her' spurs?

I'm leaning towards cockerel as well (hackles look like a male, but I see no hint of saddles yet). Any chance you could post a higher res picture? Kinda hard to see any detail in the small pic.

I went out and got a few more pictures to help (sadly, I still think we're looking at a roo). Silly me, I resized them all down since a lot of forums frown upon big pics. Try these...

Here is one of "her" back.

    One of "her" head.

And this is what "she" thought of me trying to get a picture of "her" legs.

It was really hard to type "her" since I really think I've got a not-so-little boy.

Ha ha! That pooping picture is PRICELESS!

I don't think he/she is a SOLID roo yet... I think you need to give it more time... I'm no expert but some features look roo-ish and other features look henny. I know that my SLW was one of my most difficult chickens to sex!

Thanks y'all for your help. I guess now I just wait and see. 2 weeks ago, I was 100% sure it was a roo, then it started to look like maybe it wasn't. Oh well.

Sorry about the poo picture. I couldn't resist. [IMG]

I had a few of those, thought for sure it was a roo, until I saw "him" lay an egg! Yep, I agree, nice action shot there! Couldn't do that again if you tried! LOL

Those saddle feathers look rounded, wouldn't that indicate a pullet? Wouldn't a roo have pointy saddle feathers that are starting to point downward by 12 weeks old? The hackle feathers don't appear particularly pointy either.

I'd wait and hold on to hope that it's a she. You'll know for sure when it starts to either crow or lay eggs. [IMG]
