my pekins are just over 5 weeks old now. Feathers have been developing over the last couple of weeks.
But just noticed in the last week when I handle the ducks (and in their water) there is very small a light flaky sort of material coming off them. Similar to dandruff on humans.

Just wondering if this is ok/normal ? I thought it might be dried oil in their feathers/fur ?

very normal, and quite typical. It is from the feathering. [IMG]

It literally IS duck dandruff from them shedding their feathers

    cheers!
I suspected it had to be related to them losing their fluff, but wasn't sure, so just wanted to make sure they didn't have any skin issues.

    thanks everyone

YOu'll see it with molts each year too. [IMG] that and tumbling feathers make it look like something is naked lol
