SNAKE in the henhouse

    holy crap, i was reaching in the henhouse to gather eggs, look who i found in there!

    i don't know who was more surprised, her or me. looks to be a nice big old texas rat snake. i got it trapped in there so my BF can see it and get it out, he likes snakes. she's going for a nice big ameraucana egg, too. i'm sure she's swallowing it right now. *sigh*

    Oh, and she's a beauty too!! Albeit, she'd be a DEAD beauty about 3 seconds after I snapped that picture!!

    I've seen many of those in my rabbit barn .. eeeeeek!

    aw i wouldn't kill her, really! though i might be more inclined if i'd just reached up there for eggs like i usually do, cause those rat snakes will bite you in a second. it gave me quite a surprise just seeing it, but getting chomped on in the dark!? NO THANKS ! we'll get her out of there and plug up the hole. we need her to help keep rats out of the woodpile. not too many critters volunteering for that job! : )

    You were actually reaching in? I don't think I'd be reaching anywhere knowing those things could be around.

    It's amazing to me how folks in different parts of the country are used to things and can live with it like it's just every day. Alligator country would be another toughy for me.

    I admire you--that would take some getting used to.​

    you can see the egg stretched out in there...

    well my BF got just got home and we went out there to see/catch the snake and sure enough the SNAKE IS GONE....how the hell it got out of the hen house with an big old egg in it is a bit of a mystery. i don't imagine this is the last we'll see of her!
