So this is not my first rodeo. I have raised 4 flocks of meat birds without issue. Sure lost 1 or 2 in each flock for all sorts or reasons but generally have no issues and no losses.
Now on to my question. I have a 25 Pioneer/Dixie Rainbows that appear to all be well, about a week and a half old. Now all of a sudden I have 2 that are making a slight puffing noise. They aren't gasping for air. They seem to be eating well and drinking well. I have heard chicks sneeze and this doesn't sound like it to me. Its just one or two puff sounds and then it's fine. I might see it do it two times a day at most. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something. I have reviewed my book of chick diseases and nothing lines up.
It kind of reminds me of a cow letting out a deep breath, just not as loud, Its very subtle.
Normally never feed electrolytes but I decided I should just in case.
Beyond that these birds are awesome! Best breed I have dealt with yet. Grow extremely fast! I can't wait to see them fully grown. Raised red rangers in the past but I would say the pioneers are much better.
