Mount Shasta, CA
After rain on and off for the past couple of weeks, Mount Shasta is starting to look a lot like winter.

Just wanted to share!

We are just under an hour south of the Oregon border. We can be in Ashland, OR at the Shakespheare Festival, or a wonderful variety of restaurants in about an hour.

It is currently 36 out, headed for an overnight low of 30. Really interesting weather, given that it's only October.

What's fun is that we can drive to the highest parking area on the mountain which is probably about 8000' elevation in half an hour from the driveway, and in 20 minutes I can drive to the ski park on the far side of the mountain.

The waterfall on this page http://www.5riverschallenge.com/uppersac.html is here in our area as well. 15 minutes drive and a 30-minute walk along the river.

California is a very long state. We are 12-14 hours drive from there. However, we have the same risk, with the exception of the Santa Ana winds. But living in the trees, and watching fires like that, reminds us that the risk is high and preparedness is necessary.
