Snowflake, My 3 yearold white Silkie, was desperate to be a Mom so she found some eggs and sat on them. I didn't know what kind they were as She was under the coop and I couldn't get to them. Well, today i went out to gather eggs and there was Snowflake with 3 DUCKLINGS. She had rolled 3 duck eggs under the coop and sat on them for a month. They are so cute and one other hen better get near her babies. I did catch and put her and the ducklings in a separtate pen. Last year she adopted half grown dutch chicks. She's a great Mom.

    Here's Snowflake and her ducklings

Soooo cute. I've got a BCM hen, her name is Fancy. She was broody for MONTHS, but sadly we don't have a mature rooster. She does show a keen interest in the chicks I bought recently, but I was afraid to let her near them.....I wonder if she would have mothered them......
