I haven't had chickens since I was a kid. Bought a new house last year that we could finally have chickens. Went to the store to get 6 and came home with 12. 4 are Americana the rest are Barred Rock. Too cold outside the first night so we put them in the bath tub. Next day, I went to work. Hubby stayed home and transformed an old she'd into a run. Probably should have done the coop first but things worked out well. Have been watching Kikisgirls and her adventures of the baluts.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

Have a great time learning and chatting about chickens!

I was following Kikis adventures with Balut's too but, after a million pages I wore myself out. Did they ever hatch?
Lol... I read every post. The two duck eggs got overheated when the thermometer fell in the water. She went back and got two balut chicken eggs but they were not viable. Grandma gave her a real incubator so she can try again. Quite the adventure!
