So i had a chick start to zip it was well over an hour and only was 1/2 way done. it seemed to be very close to the top of the egg. I was texting my son back and forth he said that it did hatch it was all wet but their is a small red line of blood and a discolored mass of fluid under the chick. after another hour he said it had not moved and the other chicks in the incubator were pecking at it. as he checked on the chick it still had no movement but the other chicks where all huddled around it laying down. this is heart breaking i dont get off till 6 .
What do you think possibly happened .

Some times, they just don't make it. It may have pipped into a blood vessel that hadn't absorbed. So sorry. But you have some healthy chicks. That's a good thing.

faith644, I had the same thing happen. The egg started pipping and that was all the farther it went. Hard to tell what happens there. It is very disheartening I agree. Sorry about your chick.
