They told me that I "needed to take such and such" because I was "having panic and anxiety attacks" instead of running more tests to see if maybe. Just MAYBE I had had a small heart attack the day before.
After I made an appt with my cardiologist he told me that while there have been no changes in my KNOWN heart issue, It may have played a part in the episode when a small blood clot went through. Nice.

BTW I am not prone to panic attacks. At my age I am pretty sure I KNOW MYSELF. [IMG]

So. I went to the PCP a month or so ago, maybe longer because my ankle was hurting. They sent me for x rays. They got em back and called me to tell me there was "no breaks or fractures" But they wanted to send me to PT. Told me to stop walking on the treadmill. After I told them that walking actually makes it BETTER!
I did not go to PT but instead called a podiatrist and made a appt. Which was today. Guess what?

I have a fracture, some other "changes" Not enough space between the bones in there. And a BONE CHIP that has been there a while, according to the specialist. Very nice man. Because there is calcification around it that looks to be years worth of it. Makes sense since I have been hurting for several years, just has gotten progressively worse. So it isnt like this bone chip JUST happened.

I guess I have about 2degrees of flexation (up/downward motion) in the ankle. I guess at minimum I should have 5 degrees.
Since he couldnt see exactly "why" or what is going on with just the xrays I now have another scan (either CT or MRI cant remember) scheduled for next Friday morning. And then we go from there.

He told me to keep walking if it helps. Gave me some recently FDA approved topical pain gel to try out and said he is not ruling out anything right now. If PT helps then we go that route. I(f not then surgery. But right now he wants to know what is going on before he sends me to PT. Doesnt want to cause "more damage to the ankle"

I am really thinking I need to find a new PCP. Regardless of how much a PITA it is. Or how far I would have to travel for a decent one. Either that Or I just keep going to specialist. I do have a derm appt the end of March.. since the stuff the office told me to use isnt helping at all. [IMG]

I will tell you this - CHANGE DOCS! We have horrid PCP's here where I live and if I find a good one, I stick with that one. I have been going to the same doc for a year now and I just went through an xray of my chest and it came back clear - the how come I can't breathe???

I feel your pain - check your insurers' website and call for references. It is a PITA, but your health is worth it.

I was having my son (c/section) and on the table my chest hurt, bad. My armpit was awufl pain too. Down across my shoulder etc. It was like I couldn't breathe. Like a cinder block was on my chest. I told the doc and he said "Amniotic fluid is in your chest cavity, that's hwy it hurts." I thought it was odd, as did my hubby. But we believed him. I blacked out for a little bit and woke up in the recovery room. LAter, my chest hurt again. Few months later. I went to a cardiologist and sure enough I 'd had a heart attack. Mild but still. Trust your gut. Get second opinions...and fire that PCP, lol. No sense wasting insurance on a doc that isn't looking out for you.

My family doctor sent me to a specialist years ago when I had a swollen knee. He said I had an exploded pitella(may be spelled wrong). Specialist said that it was fine and I know my body better than the doctor. I got a new doctor; he doesn't like to worry about more than one problem at a time. I hate doctors! I am allergic to soy; he said that I had a cold and was going to give me a prescription for cough meds and an expectorant. So you rant for everyone, please!

My PCP is a froot loop. I have Crohns so I'm at the GI doctor's all the time. Really. Every two months I'm in there to get dosed up again. They know me very well, we've worked together for years to find a treatment that works (and thankfully have been very successful). They listen to everything I tell them that I think influences my gut, no matter how odd.

I needed a BC prescription (to stabilize hormones to keep the Crohns at bay) which the GI doctor couldn't write. They sent me down to the PCP. She proceeded to tell me that perhaps the problem was endometriosis (nope. have Crohns), that I was depressed (nope. Have Crohns), that I needed to get off the Crohns drugs (well, once again, nope. BECAUSE I HAVE CROHNS WOMAN!). She's a wack job for sure. She was just itching to find something terribly wrong with me. Seriously, is the Crohns not enough for you?

I've quit going to her except for the random weird things. I usually use my GI and GYN to make sure that everything is okay in my world.

Go find a new PCP. It's not worth dealing with crazy people that aren't catching the real problems. Good luck!

Fire him! I just fired mine- posted it about it in my hashimoto's thread..he took three minutes to do my physical, told him about chest pains I have been having- and he never- ever even once listened to me with his stethescope. didnt touch me at all. THREE minutes- gave me a script for my high cholesterol, didnt tell me what it was- or what to expect or when to repeat bloodwork, and walked out. That is after going to him for fifteen years.

So, I found a new one- and found all sorts of things wrong with me, lol. Life is too short to short-change yourself with poor medical service.

Was just at a doctor's office yesterday. He spent maybe 5 minutes with me and practically tripped over his own feet trying to quickly get out of the room! That guy will never operate on me![IMG]

    thanks everyone.
I am going to check online this weekend and see about changing docs after I get the ankle figured out.

I mean how do you miss a bone chip? I immediately saw it without the funky contrast thing the podiatrist did. It's THAT obvious.
