When we bought these babies, they were all sold as pullets and we were told that the SLW was "about 5 weeks", so she'd be about 6 weeks now. Very timid little thing, gets picked on a lot, despite being the biggest bird... I am worried about her comb, the emergence of the wattle and they fact that she is still sort of naked in places. We've had such a good run (our first foray into chickens yielded 8 of 9 birds as roos... seriously!) and I am worried that Primrose Monster Chick is a wee boy. Please tell me she's a slow growing girl?

I have to say that we were told "some were 3 weeks and some were about 5 weeks", but they also did not even have ANY Brahmas and our one little girl is clearly a Buff Brahma (sold as an Auracana), so I don't really trust much that they had to say. There were a LOT of birds in the incubator things and they were various sizes.

Bummer, anyone else? What is it? The slow feathering?

The comb is pinking up a good bit, but not as red as I've seen here (I did look) and the wattles are JUST coming in. She's taller and has much thicker legs than the others, but is a big wuss, too.

Yep, beside the slow feathering i see a blush in the comb and waddles. Pretty sure that it will be a Roo.

    Bump... anyone?

I seriously change my mind daily on this bird... she/he is no bigger than the others anymore, despite supposedly being 2 weeks older. There is a slight curl to the tail, but I guess the saddle feathers aren't in yet. Still sort of rosy in the comb and wattle, but they aren't as big as other roos I've seen.

    Help!!

I'm still going with cockerel. Not 100%.
