Sully died today
I went out for the day, I came back and I saw a squirel in the coop. I scared it off, but it got stuck in the bars, so I took a broom and hit it (not hard enough). I should've just killed the **** thing, but I didn't have the heart to do that, then.
When I poked the squirel, I had to open the coop door so Speckles and Beakers escaped. I had to catch them and meanwhile I didn't realize that Sully was nowhere to be found. I finally put Speckles and Beakers back in the coop. Chatterbox was eating, but I couldn't see Sully anywhere (she was a white silkie and sort of blended in with the shavings).
I looked around and I saw her. At first I thought she was sleeping, but then I saw it. All the blood. The stupid squirel had attacked her. It had bit her all over and torn her head. Sully was a VERY friendly chick. She probably thought the squirel was friendly, but it wasn't. We think she was trying to protect little Chatterbox. I feel horrible. If I had just took the time to attach the netting to the coop, Sully would still be here with us. We put her in a pink box with lots of cozy wood shavings, and we burried her next to a fountain and some nice shady olive trees in our backyard. We had a little ceremony for her, and said our goodbyes. She was only 3 weeks old. She was very sweet and had the kindess heart. I miss you so much Sully, my pretty little girl. Rest in peace baby.
I feel awful. My dad told me that he would take me on an outing to get another silkie (this time brown), but I don't feel like getting one.
