I went out on my morning rounds to make sure everyone had fresh water for another hot day and low and behold I wasn't expecting to have to dig holes to bury my pets. The ducklings I didn't locate at all, but the dead chukar was still in the pen as well as the two baby chicks in their pen. Hubby is bringing a trap home but he set the big spring trap (like a small bear trap). The ducklings are in a fence but it is open top. I moved them already though to an enclosed area.

I am sorry for your loss. It sounds like it could be Raccoons. They can climb into any pen, fit into the smallest holes, and will work in teams to harras birds from all sides until one flies to and edge where they can get at them. I recomend that all of your birds are shut in well at night and those in covered pens have something around the lower outside walls that coons cant stick there hands through to get at your birds. We live we learn, and that never ends if you want to keep poultry.
