Hi I was hoping for some advice. I have four hens and only one seems to have a mite problem. However I have notes all over my entire coop. So far I have taken them out and removed all shavings and nesting pads. I power washed the entire coop, sprayed a oil/water/soap mix everywhere and sprinkled every part w DE. I also gave each hen a thorough DE bath. After one day I thought I had made progress but checked at night and the mites were everywhere again. I’m lost! My hens have a dirt bath area also. Please any advice for this SoCal climate mite will help! Thank you!! Tried to get a photo of one of the little $&@&&$

Skip the DE and throw that crap out... :old

Permethrin spray VERY effective and no withdrawal for eggs required. Also easy to use and affordable...

Found in the equine section at feed stores... this bottle lasted me 2+ years with 82+ birds. It does come in other brands like Martin's and in concentrate forms. I spray roosts, lay boxes, coop perimeter, and birds. Just below the vent, feathers parted so it hits the skin. Same under each wing pit and the base of the head at the nape of the neck.

Retreat according to label to disrupt the life cycle and then ONLY as needed (not prevention) in order to keep the pests from building resistance to the product.
