I posted this in the wrong spot earlier. my question is this. I have 5- 4 month old hens. My leghorn laid an egg a week ago and none since then. My RI Red started 4 days ago with an egg a day, sad to say I found her dead probably from a visiting dog, anyway the two that laid would no longer run from me but just drop into a squat and let me pick them up. The other 3 no layers still run from me. any idea why. thanks

The squat means that they are ready to mate... and they are looking to you as the leader of the flock! [IMG] The other birds will probably start doing the squat too as they get closer to laying.
