I'm sorry one of your babies didn't make it, I know sometimes they just die. If it wasn't acting off, had plenty of warmth but not too hot, and didn't have a pasted up butt it is really hard to know why. I hope everyone else continues to thrive. I know I check on mine every morning scared someone will be dead...I wonder when they are "out of the woods" and more likely to survive than not.

    Love their names!

My girls wanted to name the chicks after Disney Princesses, so we have...

Jasmine....Barred Plymouth Rock (I think...the Barred Rocks look a lot like the Cuckoo Marans.)
Belle....Easter Egger, they said Ameracuana but I'm guessing she is just an EE.
    Mulan...Silver Laced Wyandotte.
    Anna....Barnevelder.

Elsa (Salmon Faverolle) and Ariel (Buff Brahma) will be joining us soon.

How Funky Is Your Chicken...love your screen name....my goose is totally loose ;)

    Thanks!!!

    Cute names.....

My girls are 5 days old living in a plastic tub with red heat lamp

I looked at my chicks about that pasty butts but would there be a lot if I need to do the cleaning on them?

    I don't know what happen???

Still need my husband to either buy me the chicken coop or him and my sons are going to build one
I need it down by I guess 3 weeks

How old can they go outside to leave in chicken coop

    Our weather is Cinti Ohio

The pics I have seen of "pasty butt" there is a lot of poop dried on, so I would think it is very noticeable. Is the plastic tub big enough so they can get away from the heat if they get too hot?

They can go outside when they are fully feathered....maybe 6-8 ish weeks. I think, I am new to this too...so I could be wrong.
