Do your chickens die or just spend their lives coughing during winter?

If you cull can you send them to FREEZER CAMP?

I can tell you they don't usually die, but from what I have read they will get sick and recover and possibly have it over and over again. I wonder if some immunity is gained the 1st time and maybe they dont get it again. It will run through the flock if they are not separated, but once it has been introduced into a flock I don't think you can get rid of it without getting all new birds and disinfecting the coop/run.
they are safe to eat, just a chicken virus..not like salmonella or anything

Yes, should be fine to eat, though if you are treating with antibiotics then you should look at the required withdrawal period for use in broilers.
