Someone screwed up at the goose factory!

Last March I ordered 2 female roman tufted goslings from ideal. They came in the box with the chicks, we named them Lucy and Alfalfa. Well last week my son looks out the window and says, "Mom, why is 'Falf' standing on top of Lucy? SIGH, Alfalfa must be a boy. Lucy has laid 3 eggs this week. My daughter asked me to scramble them, she says they taste just like the chicken eggs! Isn't it unusual for her to be laying eggs in Oct? Also, is it OK for my daughter to be eating goose eggs? Seems like an egg is an egg to me, but I don't want her to get sick or anything.

Most any bird egg is fine to eat. Quail, pheasant, chicken, guinea, duck, goose, turkey, rhea, emu, ostrich etc.

She may lay a few, stop, then start laying again in late Jan/Feb.

Since Alfalfa is a boys name you did well. LOL

You'll be able to hatch your own or sell the eggs.
