Since about 20 hours ago, my 3-month old roo started becoming lethargic. I checked his crop last night and again this morning. It seems fine. But he's got this large lump in his throat area (see pic). When I feel it, it just feels like his bone and feathers but just protruding. He will eat and drink a bit and moving around and preening himself. Just not his usual active self. And he opened his mouth wide a few times this morning like maybe trying to clear something. But no crowing. And I noticed his poo was liquidy this morning. He doesn't feel well. Not sure what's wrong or what to do. These 3 babies are my first. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would open his beak and look inside the throat with a flashlight, while someone helps you hold him, and see if there is a foreign body or yellow material inside. Smell for any bad odor. Has he lost weight? Can you feel of his crop in the upper right chest, to make sure the lump in the neck is separate? Is he gasping or having trouble breathing? Get him to drink some fluids if you can. I have to leave, but will check back later today.

It just started yesterday so he hasn't lost any weight. I'll have to wait til tonight when I can have someone to hold him and will look down his throat. He seems to be breathing just fine. Just holding himself funny with his neck out like that and mostly standing still.

Hi. My chicken has the same problem now, how did it end up with yours??
Hi. Luckily there wasn't anything in his throat and it resolved on its own after about 1.5 to 2 days. Then he was fine. I think it just looked like something because he was just all crunched up. Good luck with yours!
