There was something the size and shape of a lemon seed floating in the white of one of my eggs today! It was actually a coil of soft tissue... I'm at work, so I couldn't get a picture of it. Should I be worried?

Could it be a worm? [IMG]

My brain jumped to "worm" too, but I don't think it was a parasite. I have noticed the chalazae in other eggs (not that I had any idea what they were called, thanks!) but this was way more substantial and completely independant of the yolk. Usually, the chalazae are nestled right against the yolk.

It looked like a little tumor. [IMG]

It anchors the yolk in place. It is the chalazae and is natural.

Might be a large meat spot. If it's not wiggling, just pick it out and eat it anyway (the egg, not the spot). LOL

[IMG] You know I had the thought "Maybe I shouldn't be eating this" right after I took the first bite of my omelet!

I ate it. It was fine.
