When I went to gather eggs yesterday this is one of the eggs I got, I'm pretty sure it comes from our red sex link

Any ideas what is going on with her, she is barely 2 yrs. all hens roam in the yard all day, have water, grit, oyster shell, sunflower seeds, a nice seed mix, layer feed, to eat at will. At the start of Aug. added three new hens

    Thanks for any help

Sometimes hens lay funky eggs, I wouldn't worry about it, most times it's a single occurrence, and if there's actually something wrong you can't really do anything about it. I am always amazed how people pick up weird eggs and take photos of them, I get creeped out by such things.[IMG]

Sorry, I just wanted to know if it was sick and if I would need to separate her from the rest. Someone did lay a egg that was a 1/4" long no yoke. Every once in a while we will get the egg with the really soft shell.

Nothing to be sorry for, I wouldn't worry unless it happens on a regular basis, sex links lay a lot and it sometimes gets a bit messed up, that looks like she might of been having trouble getting it out and had to pause a couple of times. This time of year hens are getting wore out from laying the whole season and you can start to see some brittle and malformed eggs, she should soon quit laying for a bit in order to molt and recover.

Only one hen has molted since we got our hens, the one that did molt got her feathers back faster then I thought that it would happen.
I only have two hens that have been laying faithfully since the last three were added to the flock, one stopped laying around June.
Makes it hard to sell the eggs when only two are laying, doesn't do any good to tel them that if they don't lay I will put them in the stew pot,
    which I won't do.

    How big is that?
Best to put a quarter in the pic for scale.

Was it a hard shell with anything inside?
    Or solid?
Cut it open and to see what's what and take a pic with quarter

Could be a 'lash egg' indicating infection.....
...or could be just a tiny egg as she ramps down production getting ready to molt.

the shell is hard and ruff. Inside was just the white, in the twisted part was a pocket inside it was more of the white. As I stated before the red or black sexlink has
laid a couple a 1/4 size of a regular egg with only the whites

By that's an odd one for sure....should post in the weird egg thread for posterity https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/697007/weird-or-odd-eggs-pics .

The white inside was liquid but no yolk?
The shell was of typical thickness but twisted?

Do you know which hen is laying this....she's almost 2 years old?
I read back but sorry am a little confused as to how many and how old all your hens are.

I'd say if it was the almost 2 year old, she may be getting ready to molt....might have to wait and see.

You might want to isolate the hen (behind wire but within sight of the flock) that you think is laying this to be sure and observe her.

We have ten hens, yes the egg was white inside all liquid no yolk. Yes shell was typical thickness but twisted. Not sure which laid it I do know that our two sex links lay the real light tan eggs, one is a red sex link the other is a black sex link. Five are close to two yrs. Two are about a yr. old three are about six months.
We have only three hens that are the same breed, I can rule them out cause they have not laid their first eggs yet, as well as ruling out the RIR, two Wellies, and the one Buff has not laid since
June and her eggs are dark brown, we have a hen that lays green eggs so differently not her. In August one hen molted the other six only lost very little feathers, the leghorns are just about six
    months old.
