We have two small kids and also rarely get time away. That would have ticked me mightily. I think once they are grown you kind of forget how exhausting the perpetual mommy, mommy, daddy, mommy stuff is. ALL THE TIME> You need time away, I bet if you'd have known he would be gone you would have enjoyed having the time to yourself. I rarely take a weekend or night and leave him in charge. I feel guilty although there is no reason I should. In this case, however, I would not feel guilty one bit. GO have a weekend, relax. Seriously, you need it. And when you get back be nice to him. Also tell him that you would like him to plan the next date night 6 months from now.
