Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Speckled Sussex are a great breed; beautiful, hardy, friendly and gentle, and good layers of large, brown eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your Speckled Sussex.

    Hello and welcome to BYC!

We have 3 SS in our mixed flock. We got ours from Murray McMurray and have loved having them. They seem to get along well with all our other birds and are gorgeous. They have the funniest croaky voices and with their white stockings they are so cute. They're 19 weeks old now and we hope to get eggs soon.

Good luck to you with your girls. And if you haven't done so already, check out some of the articles in the Learning Center, there is a ton of information there.

I've ordered SS in the past from Murray McMurray (http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/index.html) as well and they were great birds.

Thank you to all that are replying...it all sounds terrific! So excited about researching & preparing...but mostly excited about the chickens themselves (probably even more excited than our 11 year old!).

That is saying a lot, it awfully hard to be more excited than an 11 year old. Glad you joined the flock [IMG]
