Soooo sad! lost a hen today! :'(

I went to the coop this morning and found her half dead. she died in my arms 5 mins later.

I believe cause an egg broke inside of her.
Any one know what the signs are that a hen has an egg stuck? she was fine yesterday as far as I know.

I am so sorry -- I know you must be devastated. I don't know the answer to your question. I have seen other posts on here about hens sitting several times without laying as being a warning sign -- but that's also the beginning of a hen going broody. I am not sure I've seen a sure fire cure.

So very sorry for your loss. I don't know the answer either but I've lost two hens to unknown causes and I know how disturbing it is not to be able to help them. For whatever reason, chickens seem to be more fragile than we expect them to be.
