Last week I accidentally closed car door and didn’t check first. Pinky one of my leghorns got caught in door and hurt her leg. She was limping afterward and a small scrape on her leg. It didn’t appear broken but her leg was swelled and bruised at the joints the next day. I cleaned her wound and having been putting comfrey salve on her leg. Not really weight bearing at first but the last few days she’s been slowly putting weight on it. The swelling and bruising getting better. She’s been in the house with supervised outside visits.
Yesterday I noticed her chewing at her foot, I thought something was caught on her foot. I didn’t notice anything at the time. Today when putting comfrey on her I saw this sore on her hind toe. I put some hydrogen peroxide on it, epsom salt soak for 20 minutes and applied Neosporin. Can’t really bandage it. This is picture after applying neosporin. It does hurt her if I touch it. I don’t see any pus. And it’s not a hard scab. I will continue with salt bath and neosporin until healed. I was wondering if I should do anything more for her. The picture was after I applied neosporin. Thank you for any advice.
