    Hi all...
I have a three year old bantam cochin rooster.
I was checking everyone's bands yesterday to make sure they were not too tight, etc. and noticed that my rooster has
red, raised places on a few his toes and legs. I had not noticed this before.
No bleeding, just slightly raised and really red and irritated looking.

Could this be caused by leg mites?

What should I put on the places or give to him as far as medication so as he doesn't get sick/sicker?

    Thanks!

Sounds like you are dealing with scaly leg mites. I have no idea how people with chickens with feathered legs deal with this but I'm sure there is plenty of information on here.

Here are some pictures I took this evening... it is kind of hard to tell what you are looking at so I'll try to describe them...
The pictures make it look so much worse than it looks in real life...

This is the worst looking foot. Now the blood is from me trying to trim back feathers and hitting a blood feather. That was my bad.

Here is a close up of the worse foot.

Here is a bottom shot of that bad foot.

These are of the other foot that isn't as bad.

This is the bottom of that not as bad foot.

Here are some shots of the legs to show they are irritated, too.
