Welcome to the forum

I'm in the Western Cape.

I have 2 Orpingon's. (My fav's) Lavender and Black
1 'commercial layer' the type you find in a battery farm.
1 Banded Plymouth Rock
1 Brahma (Although I suspect she's a sussex cross Brahama)
1 Rhode Island Red
1 Sussex cross... something (I think) She's a complete mix. Here is a picture of her: Maybe someone can tell me what she is. (Sorry about the watermark, I just used a pic I had handy)

One of those SA specials? LOL I've had bunches of them and we had much fun hatching their eggs and seeing the different varieties we got. She's very pretty!

I have 4 "specials" at the moment and 8 RIR, hatchery quality. I tried to get some Australorp hatching eggs from a breeder that has black, blue, lavender etc, but was told I'll have to wait until December.

She sure is a 'pavement special', yet also my most beautiful chicken. If I had to find her feathers out in the veld without seeing her, I'd imagine the bird that dropped them must be very exotic indeed.

It isn't too long to December. Autralorp's seem to be a very popular breed.

Please excuse my ignorance, I'm new to the whole chicken keeping thing; what is a RIR (which you have 8 of)?
