I lived in SA most of my life and there are very few breeds available, that I know! The Boschveld chicken is an excellent X though. Good layer and nice temperament.

There are a couple SA members here. Can't remember their names now...[IMG] Start a thread in the Where am I, Where are You section and I'll send them along as I remember.

A couple of venda's (tri-colour) and boschvelders. One do get boschvelders that are very similar in colour to the venda and when we show with them, many will show boschvelders as venda's, where the colours allow one to do so. In type they are almost identical, but the boschvelder is not an acknowledged breed with SASPO (SA Show Poultry Organization).
