I would LOVE to meet like minded people in this area to learn new things!!!

I live inbetween Idaho Falls and Rexburg!

Look forward to hearing from you!!

I am in Woodville~ just NW of Shelley. New Chicken owner--about 2 months. 3 Rhode Island Red Hens and an Astralorp Easter Egger Cross Roo named Reggie. Had 4 hens, but while they were out free-ranging a week ago, something attacked my Roo! He lost every tail feather but one, and alot of his back-left side feathers...he survived and will be allright; but we lost Stella somehow. Have no idea what happened to her! Now I'm afraid to let the chickens out of the run!

They were really getting used to the yard!

Like you, I am anxious to learn new things about this chicken biz~ I sure do love them!

They are super fun! I don't let mine out...I have neighbors that are close and would not appreciate them in their yard...and the road in front is pretty busy...if they wander to the front of the yard, I could be cited for chickens on city property...but the back yard is county...kinda weird and stinks that the city is so against chickens!!!

Nice to meet you here!!! Shelley is still a ways from Rigby

but good to know I am not totally alone!!!

How funny your property is situated like that--city front, county back! At least a good thing they CAN be in the backyard~ We live on 5 rural acres. Neighbor to our west has big white chickens he used to let roam free. They always came over in our yard--I loved seeing them but now he keeps them in their (BIG- new) run. It's really nice. After losing Stella, I asked him about predators locally. He said he's had trouble with dogs in the area and lost a few hens this spring. Now I at least have an idea what may have happened to my hen, and Reggie for that matter. My chickens have a big coop--I'm strange-- I decorated the inside of it! They have a fake tree, a quilt on the wall and pictures...well, they're quite comfy. They like to hear me sing to them too! I'd like to enlarge their run, but have no idea how to go about it~ a friend of mine from Rigby came out to help me build the original. I am getting 3 eggs a day so far--I hear they will lay 2-3 eggs apiece before too long. I hope that's true--then maybe we can earn a little extra selling those pretty brown eggs!
Thanx for writing back so quick~ have a great weekend, Rigby neighbor~ and God bless you!
