Tomorrow I'm bringing 30 chickens and 3 guinea hens to show at the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach. Please wish us great success! The show is judged, but it's not as high-intensity as many other poultry shows, a lot of folks show their backyard birds. Last year we showed our own pet chickens and I was surprised to find many people looking to buy them at the end of the show. My boys did not want to part with any of their pets, so we didn't sell any. But this year I ordered chicks in July to raise up to show & sell at this year's fair. They're an assortment of heavy-breed layers and a few roos. All 24 weeks old, healthy & beautiful, just beginning to lay. I hope to sell them all. If you go, look for the ones exhibited by me, Carol King, or my son, David King. Ask for me at the Poultry Tent, I'll be spending many hours volunteering there. Are there any other BYCers showing there? If you live in the area, you may want to consider showing next year. It's a fun low-pressure show. Last year my Black Jersey Giant hen won Reserve Champion Hen and all I did to prepare her for the show was to grab her up from the yard and drive her to the Fair! Hope to see you at the Fair!
