We swore we'd never get them, but stumbled across a lovely flock of Ayam Cemanis and couldn't resist. Now we're addicts...

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes. We started last fall with our first chickens.

    (2) How many chickens do you have right now?
    Around 150.

    (3) What breeds do you have?
    Ayam Cemani
    Pavlovskaya
    Mosaic
    Rode Island Red
    Dutch Bantam
    Americana
    Orpington
    Silkie
    Mystery Mutts

    (4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
    Geeking out on genetics
Convincing broody hens to let me have their eggs
    Hatch day

    (5) What are some of your other hobbies?
    Cooking
    Reading
    Traveling

    (6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We run a full-time game bird farm. We have 4 dogs that keep an eye on things, a horse that mows the lawn, and a never-ending supply of eggs and poop.

    (7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
We've been using BYC as a source for information since we started our farm in 2017. We've found so much great information here, and now that we're serious about raising chickens it seemed like the right time to join the community.
