Hi all! I am new to chickens - actually haven't even ordered our chicks yet but wanted to have everything ready for them including the type of feed we want. I would like to know if there are people in Alabama (we are in Birmingham area) that would like to go in to split a large quantity of feed. A local mill will make special recipes but need to make in batches of 1000-1200 pounds. Let me know if anyone is interested. I am also trying to figure out the best substitute for soy. I may just get them to leave it out and purchase bulk legumes and seeds to mix in by hand. Or we may grow some meal worms for them. Plus, ours will have access to yard. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Also from what I have been told and will question a bit further, the feed will be organic but just not certified.
