Our local hatchery will have Sussex chicks this spring and I can just get 5. I am so happy. My husband picked the breed but I couldn't get any with our order. And all the other on-line hatcheries had a limit of at least 15. My pet chicken I could get 5 but they were charging an arm and a leg for shipping a small order. I think the total for 5 pullets came to around $60.00. Hubby can go without for that price. Can't wait for chicks to get here. I have to wait till mid April.

i love Speckled Sussex myself. so pretty, calm and good layers.

    hope you enjoy yours!

one of mine that just hatched a couple weeks ago...(don't mind the orange marker on it's head...marked them so i could tell apart from other 'chipmunky' types!
