Hello! First time chicken mom here! I got six feed store pullets several week back and I'm pretty confident that four definitely are girls. I already have a thread for my glw, but I feel pretty on the fence about my speckled sussex too. 6 weeks old currently.

    Thanks!

That wattle is kinda big... Here's my SS at 8 weeks. This one could be a cockerel. Keep an eye on it, a little more time should tell you for sure.

It looks like a pullet so far.

Hmmm...I'm on the fence about that one. Could go either way. I'd lean a little towards cockerel currently.

Cockerel. A pullet would not have such developed wattles at this age.

  6. I would not say it’s definitely a cockerel, since Speckled Sussex pullets tend to develop combs and wattles early.

Update! A little over 8 weeks now. I don't see any saddle or hackle feathers but the tail looks different from my other pullets.

Looks like a cockerel to me. Here's my SS pullet for comparison (4 wks). Smaller comb, less white in the chest, sharper patterning:

  10. I still think pullet.
