Something I don't get much time to do, and I have to admit that my wife does the most of it. But today I took the time to help her as we prepare for Thanksgiving and the Christmas season. Our tree goes up the week after the turkey. I have to say I really enjoyed myself as we washed all the nic nacs, polished the wood...shined the mirrors. For so many years it was only me and my wife. Our daughter was born late in lafe. So we ended up with some high end junk in the house. Nic-nac's, paintings, mirrors. We pretty much have a glass house. At least a glass living room. As we cleaned them, we talked about how we got this one or that one. Some of this stuff we've had for thirty years. A lot of memories my wife and I have had together. A lifetime of wonderful memories that she's given me. And I hope that I've been able to give her wonderful memories of her own. As I head into this holiday season, the thing I am most thankful for is my wife and daughter. How rich they've made my life. They've truly made it worth the living. We've laughed. And we've cried. We've buried loved ones, and we've seen the miracle of life. We've been together since high school. I guess now we're growing old together. How wonderful that is. I'm thankful for the food that we have, the table we have to put it on, and the roof over our head. I'm grateful for the friends that will share our dinner. But most of all, I'm thankful for my family.
