I have 2 spitz I hatched. They are now 3-4 months old. I thought I had 2 girls. I have raised many chickens, and know what a rooster looks like, but spitz are more androgynous. The boy spitz didn't have a big comb, or wattles, or tail feathers even. But today, I went to the coop, and I saw him bite a hen like a breeding rooster does. I really looked at the diff between him and my hen. He had just a few very small saddle feathers, tail feathers that were more green-shiney, and buried under hat feathers a much redder V-comb, than the female. So yes it is a boy.

In some breeds, cockerels tend to be slow developing - especially in the presence of a dominant flock rooster.
