Hello everyone,

I'm trying to decide on a rooster and I'm wondering what color chicks would result from a splash blue-laced red wyandotte roo and a buff wyandotte hen?

I've tried to use the chicken calculator but can't seem to figure it out.

Does anyone have any experience with this cross?

Thanks!

Does anyone have any thoughts on this one? If you had a flock of blue laced red wyandottes and buff wyandottes, and could only keep one roo, would you keep a blrw splash roo, a blue laced roo or a buff roo? And why? (This is assuming that each of the roos will grow out to be equally handsome in conformation and coloring.)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

From what I can get with the chicken calculator, it looks like birds will be a combination of blue and buff. They will have either spangles on their feathers or poor lacing. you might get something better with another generation, but the first generation birds would not be true to any pattern.

If you can only keep one roo, decide which you like better - the BLRW or the buff. You'll get pure looking chicks of that pattern only, and the others will be interesting blue/buff mixes.
