Being new to chicken genetics- it's going to take me some time to digest [IMG] I am curious if the Splash is always a combination of black and white feathers? And if Blue X Blue is how you get Splash, would it be possible to add another color like red or gold, etc? [IMG] I hope that question makes sense.

Quote:Splash is Blue Based so no black feathers and yes always blue and white unless it is very washed out and in that case they would be pretty much all white. You can get splash by breeding Blue to Blue or Blue to Splash or Splash to Splash.

Blue to Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black and 25% Splash chicks
Blue to Splash= 50% Blue and 50% Splash chicks
Splash to Splash = 100% Splash chicks tho this will wash out the chicks.

Thanks, I meant to say always blue and white- black doesnt make sense [IMG] So- it's not possible to have a different splash color other than blue and white? Shame, I really like the Splash, but would LOVE to see it in different colors. Off to study some genetics! [IMG]
