I've had a couple of juveniles turn up with split wing. I'm wondering when I should have caught it so they could be rehomed. All opinions appreciated. [IMG]

I got the answer from a trusted friend. She said as early as three weeks and sometimes not til 3 months.

what do you do if a chick has a split wing?
We just got our first set of chicks last week and one seems to have a split wing, she seems to be doing ok but we are new at this and I wasn't sure if there is something I should do for her.

Nothing needs to be done for split wing. It is just a fault if you are into showing chickens. Here is a link to help you understand what it is. Very good pictures. Welcome to BYC! You will love all the valuable info you get and the great people!

    It's not a fault if you're into showing, it's a disqualification.

We do not plan to show, we are just raising some backyard chickens for eggs and such. Thank you for the information, and the welcome. :)
