    What are they made out of. I know the older ones where made from wood.

    As far as I know they are still made of wood.

    The new models are made from 1/2" solid plastic board.

    No, still Laminated MDF, but you can now get clear plastic doors.

    Looks like they increased the heating element by 100 watts. Plastic has advantages but insulation may not be one of them.
