I have noticed that in a few of our eggs we have seen little dark spots on the yolk and or in the whites. I don't have good sight but they appear to resemble flakes of ground pepper. Some have been as small as a spec o' ground pepper and some have been as big as 1/16 inch across.
Any clues on what these are ?

What is called blood spots or meat spots from a vessel rupture mostly likely along in the forming of the egg.....I just spoon mine out when cooking...try some black oiled sunflower seeds in the hens or pullets diet....store bought eggs are candled and these discarded is why you don't see them very rarely when you crack a grocery egg.....
