Spurs

Do hens have spurs or just roosters only?

I will dare to say its only the males. Probably exceptions to all rules. It will be interesting to hear what other BYCers have to say!

I have a girl with spurs. She lays huge brown eggs!

I have girls (BO) with very tiny spurs, it looks like when my roos started getting theirs but the girls' never gets bigger.

When I was hoping my developing rooster was a hen, I was told hen do have spurs too. So guess hens can have them.

Game hens have spurs, some are double spurred.

I should take pictures of my girl's spurs too. I haven't measured them, but I'd estimate them to be somewhere between 3/4 and 1 inch long. I don't think she developed them until she was at least a year and a half old. She'll be 3 at the end of this month.

My brown leghorns, black leghorns and black minorcas all have spurs.
