I noticed a while ago that my rooster's feet are weird. The bottom part of his feet has hard, darkened patches of skin. I thought it was bumble feet, but there is no swollen or tender areas, and the color is fine. However, I don't know if that's normal. I thought that due to his size and weight maybe he got callous skin under his feet.

Anyways, I don't have a picture but his feet look a bit like the ones in this picture, the dark area is much darker and it's hard, but there's no cyst or imflamation. Should I worry?

I'm not sure but I think that is Bumble foot. I don't have any advise for you but I know there are many people that know what to do.

I checked his feet again today and the blackened skin is really hard, but all the tissue around and under the black skin is soft and I didn't see any indication of swollen tissue. I'm gonna have my niece help me soak his feet today again so I can give them a good scrub with a toothbrush and see better if it's a scab or just hardened skin. Can large breed chickens get callus on their feet?
