Just an odd question...is anyone working on making silkies into a standard breed??

There aren't many, if any LF silkies in the US, they do have them in the UK though.

Really?! Thank goodness! I'd love to have some just as broodies in my largefowl flock, but suppose the shipping would be ridiculous for eggs.

With my limited knowledge, I want to say our silkies here are between the sizes if not closer to the "standard" size in Europe, while their banties are on the smaller side than ours.

Quote:I'm thinking the same thing. My silkies are bigger than my bantam cochins.

I've got a grey silkie roo who's a pretty big guy to be bantam. He's definitely bigger than a bantam cochin.

I had similar thoughts, so I posted a thread asking how many medium to large eggs could an average American silkie hatch. Some folks said they've had slikies hatch 12 or more.
