So we have some laying hens that we got from my uncle that want nothing to do with people and are very standoffish. We are getting day old chicks in the spring and i want them to be friendly and like people, if i let my chicks range and roost with my wild hens when they are done being brooded will my friendly chicks go wild? Thanks!

Tameness and friendliness are functions of breed and handling. Your new chicks, if they are of a people friendly breed and handled with care, will be friendly. If the hens you got from your uncle are friendly breeds, they will come around eventually and be more friendly and tame with the right conditioning.

Most chickens are easily corrupted by treats and calm persistence.
