starting a new coop and run need advise

Hello everybody,

i just got a new coop and a new run and want to make sure it will be completely pest free so the chickens will be totally healthy. the coops are off the ground and have a wood floor and a grass run, wanna know what i should put down to kill the pests..need help please thank you

Put down some chickens to kill the pests.

True, do not use any pesticide as it would be poisonous to the chickens and eggs. The chickens will feast on the bugs, which are what they look for when free ranging.

One need not be too concerned with how sterile the coop is, you will see.

Only thing I noticed is in your avatar you show chicken wire. That will not deter a racoon. Hardware cloth (expensive) will.
