Got real lucky got in fb marketplace and boom Large dog crate $20 bucks!! Yes please, now we have so much room..well wait for now..maybe till they can go to the coop hopefully.

I suggest getting the coop ready sooner than later. My first batch of chicks was 7 and I raised them in an xlarge dog crate. I had to put them outside in the coop by 6 weeks.
Yeah we are starting to expand current coop now, so we will be ready, if not we have plywood to make one a little bigger till coop is done. But I dont see that occuring. I had 7 chicks last year.

x2, how cold is it that you feel you need 2 heat sources? Chicks actually do better IMO with a little less heat, not more. At 3 weeks, unless it's really cold where you're at, they should be gradually starting to wean off heat.
Just a light, they are fine. I have the brooder themometer in there and they are right at 85 degrees.
