In the Brooder
Our 26 week old Easter Egger, Frida, started laying a few weeks ago. She’s laid a few normal, good looking eggs with strong shells, and did so in the nesting box.
That said, twice now I’ve gone out to let our ladies out of the coop (they free run our backyard)… and I’ve been met with both a shell-less egg under the roost where she sleeps AND a second egg that has a funny wrinkle shell. The whole egg has a strong shell - not the soft shells I’ve read about, but has this extra wrinkly layer (photo attached).
Should I just attribute this to early laying behavior or is it problematic?
(we feed all 4 of our ladies a layer pellet that has calcium in it, all the other lady’s’ eggs are good looking with strong shells.)
