I went out to the coop at 10:30am to take my chickens scratch treat and check on morning eggs.

And What to My Wondering Eyes Should I See [IMG] , THIS

a round egg of all things. [IMG] [IMG]
Shell was cracked all around but inside is still intact...
    Our Crazy Cochin layed it.

our one BO Bertha(our second best layer) has always laid rounder eggs than normal... A few times they were almost perfectly spherical... we call them golf ball eggs... her's also have the thickest, toughest shells... I accidentally dropped one once without it cracking...

It is just so weird to see a quarter sized round egg in the nest when all 4 of our adolescents have been laying regular large to extra large eggs. I know it was 1 of the Cochin's 'cause my Barred Rock's egg color is much lighter. My Cochins have been laying a cream colored egg on occasion also.

Happens, it will probably not have a yolk and just be whites.

I'll have to break the membrane and see. It was just so strange I had to get a pic of it and post it...
